Query Language

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

hormone pituitary

- finds documents containing 'hormone' or 'pituitary'

hormone or pituitary

- same as above

hormone and pituitary

- finds documents containing both 'hormone' and 'pituitary'

hormone not pituitary

- finds documents containing 'hormone' but not 'pituitary'

(hormone not pituitary) and placental

- finds documents containing both 'hormone' and 'placental' but not 'pituitary'

chorio*

- finds documents containing words starting with 'chorio'
