Alkaline Phosphatase, Bovine

Alkaline Phosphatase, Bovine

General Product Information

Alkaline Phosphatase is purified from bovine intestines. This preparation is in a liquid form using a buffer consisting of 5mM tris, 5mM magnesium chloride, 0.1mM zinc chloride, 50% glycerol, pH 7.0.

Alkaline Phosphatase catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphate esters yielding alcohols and phosphate. It is a dimer made up of two nearly identical subunits, each with a molecular weight of 69,000 Daltons. Each subunit contains two molecules of zinc necessary for stability and catalytic activity. This enzyme is useful as an indicator enzyme when coupled to antibodies used in EIA systems.

Alkaline Phosphatase is supplied in three purity grades: >1000U/mg (A0423), >1500U/mg (A0424), and >1800U/mg (A0425).
