Purity ≥98% by SDS-PAGE

Creatine Kinase BB (CK-BB) is predominately found in brain tissue and is not normally present in measurable amounts in the serum of normal adults. Serum levels, however, may increase after severe damage to tissues containing CK-BB. Elevated serum levels of CK-BB are associated with cancer of the breast, ovary, prostate, colon, and other gastrointestinal carcinomas, and for small-cell anaplastic carcinoma of the lung. Serum levels of CK-BB are also measured in conjunction with the other isoenzymes, CK-MB and CK-MM, to aid in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction.

This preparation of CK-BB is isolated from human brain tissue and is provided as a liquid in 5mM Sodium Succinate, 10mM Sodium Chloride, 1mM EDTA, 5mM β-Mercaptoethanol, 50% Glycerol, pH 7.0 ± 0.1. Purity is ≥98% by SDS-PAGE.

Note: This product is not packaged by mass (e.g., mg), but by the unit. One unit is defined as that amount of enzyme required to convert 1 μmole of creatine phosphate to creatine per minute at an assay temperature of 30°C.
